Pa. casino tables see Oct. revenue gain
Gamblers lost $63 million playing poker and other table games at Pennsylvania casinos in October, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported.
That represents a 4 percent gain over the same month a year ago, but excluding a nearly $2 million, or 21 percent, gain at Parx Casino in Bensalem, table games revenues were up 1 percent. Parx did not immediately respond to a request for information about what drove its strong gain.
The number of tables in operation there fell to 154 from 165 last year. SugarHouse Casino, in Philadelphia's Fishtown neighborhood, recorded an 11 percent gain, to $7.8 million from $7 million.
Harrah's Philadelphia and Valley Forge both had declines. At Valley Forge, table games revenue fell 22 percent, to $2.2 million from $2.8 million. Harrah's brought in $4.9 million from table games, down 19 percent from $6 million a year ago.
